Design Tips for Small Spaces

How To Make The Most Of Small Spaces

Whether you have an apartment or a spacious house, nearly everyone has a small space design challenge. We have had so many requests over the years for our standard pieces smaller, narrower, shorter – we now have an array of chic furniture products that add immediate glamour to even your smallest nook.

The best small space interior design tip from top designers is the use of color. Most agree that using one continuous color on walls, ceiling, trim and upholstery not only gives a sense of cohesiveness but gives the room the illusion of being more spacious. With that said – don’t shy away from a color! It does not need to be white or even pastel. A dark moody charcoal-matte-almost-black is both cozy in winter and cool in summer. It wraps you in the warmth of color in the winter and feels like a cool cave on a hot day. An all-blue room feels like there’s sky above and if everything is nearly monochromatic, it has the feeling of order and soothing unity even if there are toys spread all over the floor.

Interior Design tips for small spaces also include using small scale pieces or a custom sectional that wraps a room. An ottoman with a tray can double as a footstool and high-end coffee table. Nothing is more appealing that an intimate spot to curl up to watch a game or movie – make it inviting and you’ll find your small space is the most used spot in your house.
